We are also happy to present a viola group class for 3-5 students. The viola is played like the violin, however it has a deeper tone and is usually larger than the violin. Due to the general lack of knowledge about this instrument, we typically find high demand for them at the high school and college level. This 45 minute class will introduce basic viola playing techniques and music reading skills through active listening, reading, games, and working together. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend so that they may also learn about ways to help students practice their new skills at home.
Originally from Philadelphia, Nicole recently completed her masters in String Performance at Boston University under the instruction of Karen Ritscher. She has been studying the viola and violin for over ten years and holds teacher certification in Suzuki Violin Books 1-3, with the intention of completing Book 4 next summer. Before pursing her masters, Nicole was a faculty member at Patel Conservatory in Tampa, Florida, teaching seven group violin classes and a private studio each week. She is remaining in the Boston area to continue her studies privately with faculty from New England Conservatory and Boston University, and frequently travels to Florida during holidays to spend time with her family.
